Wanna eat out!! Go to www.!!!! ..WHERE??

Yeaterday I felt like having some good old Punjabi dishes, being in Chennai, cant say I am spoilt for choice!! "Where do I go to find a place to rest my soul tonight?" was a question I had to ask myself. Cause I COULD'NT ASK MY BEST FRIEND D "INTERNET"!! Where do these people go when I really need them? We need to get more info online about different taste buds. I had the same feeling while I was in Bangalore and was looking for some Bengali food. Being such a techno savy place, still the F&B googling didn't convince me much :(!! You cant expect m to know the term "Bangali macheer jho##ll!!" and search online, that's ridiculous. I want to see food courts across my town like I can for a damn Bus ticket from PUDUCHERRY to CHENNAI. Where do these restaurant owners get their brain from, they are out of such a HUGE market. In London I was so happy to go to sites like Hungry House. They were very efficient. Here the options are very very limited and cant say they cover the best. My friend was telling that day " These damn restaurant owners don't even know what we can do for them!!", obviously my friend is a SEO Expert and expert web designer.

boy gimme some good sites and get these things organized, I dont wanna miss good food just because the owner is low on grey cells!!

  1. I am reall fond of Cloud type architectures helping to consolidate different industries. Cause a centralized repository can definitely help to bring a holistic data together. Haven't seen anybody implement that though. Web sites who provide these sort of information are generally pay sites. We dont really get a third eye view which can be considered as impartial or genuine (arguably!!). There sd be standards implemented where food quality and service can bee seen as quantifiable.

  2. Hey this blog interests me... m always game for food and it would be great if I had could jump to a few sites and get a quick listing of the best restaurants cusine wise.

If I had to go in for a book, it would be "Times Food" guide... but online? Well it would certainly be a better idea since google is this Gen's handiest tool... so I searched and found this one -

    http://www.foodiebay.com/

THis is what it gives -

    1. Cusines wise listing
    2. Area wise listing
    3. Sub Area wise listing
    4. Rating
    5. Popularity
    6. Menu lisitng
    7. Cost for two
    8. Credit card acceptance
    9. Bar availability
    10. Home Delivery

It could have done better with a review column also.

But m not too sure how authentic it is.. or how often it is being updated..

So I searched a little more n found this one -

    http://bangalore.burrp.com/establishment/search.html?q=Restaurants&n=&s=OR#2

I heard this was good... So bang on n let me know!

In the meantime, i m still looking for something better...

It do not have the photograpphs of the restaurant to depict the ambieance. Some of the basic information is not present like whether the parking is available or not.

The buffet inforation is totally absent which is a big hit in corporates. Online booking facility is not present to save time to give facility to the customer.

They do not have facility of planning a party. None of the information regarding the offer is present.

    Refer to www.eveningflavors.com for details

  4. I like the point that we are focusing on the point of information, which is the basic requirement here.
Instead of roaming around the sites which are more inclined towards doing business, I was more interested towards getting the industry together where it really feels scattered. Majority of the available sites showcase their sponsored venues in a glamorous way. My viewpoint was towards the consumer, not the service providers. Wich definitely in turn helps the industry but creates a better credibility to the huge number of eaters around. Basic facilities such as menu, speciality, Ratings(independent, not sponsored) and more automated approach to assist the consumers will definitely be very helpful to evrybody.
On a technical point of view, I am pretty in line with Mike, a composite cloud will definitely be handy to resolve these issues. The industry needs to gather itself together and what better way than a futuristic cloud implementation.
